Ap Advanced Placement Examination: Spanish Language
Published in Paperback by Research & Education Assn (January, 1996)
Authors: G. Braun, Research & Education Association, D. Senerth, and C. Rodo
Average review score:

This book is a comprehensive, thorough course in Spanish!!
I really enjoyed using this book as a form of supplementary preparation for taking the AP Spanish Exam. I found it to be an excellent source of information for all of the material covered on the exam, and some of the practices excercises actually more than prepared me for the material on the exam. The audio CDs were essential in preparing me for the oral component of the exam, and made studying more fun. I Am grateful to the authors of the book, since their work helped me to score a 5 on the exam. I would strongly recommend this book to test takers.

If ur taking AP spanish, get this book
Absolutely the best book around. The subject review is a big exhaustive, but well worth your money. Going through the entire book will guarantee you a 4 or a 5!

THE best book for AP spanish!
This book is the absolute best buy for AP Spanish Language preparation. It goes through every aspect of the test and has a very thorough review of all grammar tested in the exam (although I thought that they had a little more then what was needed). The practice tests accurately measure with the difficulty and format of the real test. Having a bad situation with an inexperienced teacher, I picked up this book and used it for self-study. It helped me greatly, and in the end, I received a 4 just by going through it myself and practicing.

Barron's Police Officer Exam (Barron's How to Prepare for the Police Officer Exam, 6th Ed)
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (July, 2001)
Authors: Frank A. Lombardo and Donald J. Schroeder
Average review score:

One of many good books that can get you into law enforcement
Barron's Police Officer Exam book is another example of the kind of quality Barron's is known for. I also used Barron's "How to Prepare for the GMAT" before I took - and passed - the FBI Phase I exam. Two books by Thomas H. Ackerman are also very helpful if you are seeking federal law enforcement employment, including "FBI Careers" and "Guide to Careers in Federal Law Enforcement." All of these books can give you an edge on other applicants, which is what you need to be competitive and get hired.

Excellent
I scored 98% with just one week of reading this book. Recommended for anyone who is serious about becoming a Police Officer. This is the best study guide for the Police exam.

Solid. pertinent info
Great prep for a police job. Tons of info vital for the test and vital for the job. In fact, working cops should get it to fill in the gaps and to have a solid foundation to build on for a promotional exam.

The Chihuahua Handbook (Barron's Pet Handbooks)
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (November, 2000)
Author: Ph.D. D. Caroline Coile
Average review score:

Muy bueno!
I'm a few weeks away from getting my Chihuahua. I got this book on the great recommendations from here and thus far it has been a great book. I feel better prepared for my new Chi and am getting my cats ready for a new pal. Tips on getting the home ready, medical concerns that may arise, etc. have been invaluable to me.

Great for New Owners As Well
I am a new Chihuahua owner, so I am looking to find advice about raising my wonderful puppy! I saw wonderful reviews on amazon about this book and decided to purchase it. I have read the entire book at various small settings over a 3 day period. It is short enough to get through and yet long enough to give detail about many aspects of the Chihuahua. I am very satisfied with this book. It is also small and thus handy! It has recommendations for a Five Minute weekly checkup, First Aid advice, and training techniques as well as much more. This book will be referenced many times throughout my Chihuahua's life.

This is the one I recommend
As a Chihuahua owner and volunteer for the National Chihuahua Rescue and Transport Society, I strongly recommend this book. I use it all the time. It is specific to the breed and covers all phases of a Chihuahua's life from weaning to the need for euthanasia. It covers anatomy, breeding, training, and genetic predispositions of Chihuahua's. Upon reading it to completion you will know everything there is to know about these tiny canines. One of the most useful chapters deals with the 5 minute physical that demonstrates the basic exam that you see your vet do, when he examines your dog. It has great pictures, but if you can only buy one book on "Chi's" this is the one I recommend.

FABULOUS!!
I bought this as a supplement for my first two semesters of Econ and I ended up using it more than my textbook!!

ATTN AP Econ and College Students
I used this book for the AP Macro and Micoeconomics exams, and I scored two 4's. I am currently taking Introduction to Economics at UC Berkeley, and this book serves as a better resource than the expensive textbook.

I got an A in UCB's Econ 1 course.

Best for CLEP TEST preparation
I used this book and CLEP official guide for microeconomics CLEP test, and passed with 92nd percentile. Highly recommended for those taking CLEP.

Painless Fractions (Barron's Painless Series)
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (September, 1998)
Authors: Alyece Cummings and Laurie Hamilton
Average review score:

This book Rules! Get it!
This book is a wonderful Math book, you will love Math after getting it. I highly Recommend buying this one.

Explained in simple terms...
I would recommend this book to children struggling with fractions, or even to adults who struggled with fractions when they were learning them as kids. The author makes it about as simple as it can be made. The only thing better would be to hire a private tutor. If you go through this book one step at a time, and practice at each level, you should learn a lot. I bought this book because I started a math club at my son's school. I plan to let the children borrow it as needed.

Magnifico!!
What an absolute charm! I used this book in my "at home studies" with my two pre-high school daughters. The book is so simply written and easily understandable. My daughters are grasping the concept of fractions as never before. This book is indispensable! BRAVO!

Cliffsquickreview Algebra 1 (Cliff's Quick Review)
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (December, 1994)
Author: Jerry Bobrow
Average review score:

Great Transition!
I got this book recently because I needed a simple small "transition" book to review all the Algebra I had lost from taking Geometry. Well... I really like this book. It is very useful and I hope to be able to easily integrate it with the rest of all my studying materials. I really like how it has such an easy interface and is small. (to fit in small backpack pockets) For these first months of Algebra II, you guys that are too dumb to remember you basic algebra (like me), get this book. It is a great tool for reviewing even the most important sections in Algebra. Thanks Cliff Notes... you allow people to slack at all times of the year. :)

It Really Helps!
I have only bought this book for learning and for studying before I am gonna go back to school, but I have learn a lot from it! I really explains clearly enough so you can understand what it is talking about or you can do it after its example.

Excellent book for brushing up
This book is an excellent overview for people who may not have had any algebra for a long time, it is clear, and has very good examples and explanations. Unlike many 'learn algebra' type books, this one shows you exactly how to do the problems from start to finish. I believe you could actually teach yourself an entire semester of algebra on your own with only this book as a teacher. I highly reccomend it.

Jane and the Ghosts of Netley
Published in Hardcover by Bantam Doubleday Dell Pub (Trd) (27 May, 2003)
Author: Stephanie Barron
Average review score:

Jane and the Ghosts of Netley
Not since the third book, Jane and the Wandering Eye have I been so taken with a Jane Austen Mystery. I read it in one day & now, having finished it, I am to put it in Austen terms, "distraught" by the ending. Unless Ms. Barron inteads to use soap opera theatrics to resurrect the dead I cannot see how her next book can be nearly as engaging. I will, nevertheless, anxiously await it's debut.

a riveting read
It should have been a time of mourning and private grief for Jane Austen as she contemplates the recent death of her beloved sister-in-law, Elizabeth. But it can hardly be that, not when Sir Henry Towbridge, one of England's most trusted of advisors and her own Gentleman Rogue, bursts in on her life again with a tale of betrayal, treachery and intrigue.

Sir Harold has but recently returned from Oporto (in Portugal), where he made the acquittance of (and became quite smitten with) a beautiful, rich widow, Sophia Challoner. Sir Harold now firmly believes that Sophia is actually a French agent and that she has some evil and dastardly plan up her sleeve that she means to carry out now that she's installed herself at Netley Lodge in Southampton. Because he's well known to the lady, Sir Harold wants Jane to keep an eye Sophia, to note all her comings and goings as well as who all her visitors are. Fortunately for Jane, a fortuitous turn of events brings her to Sophia's notice, and the two strike up a friendship. But the more time Jane spends with Sophia, the more she begins to wonder about Sir Harold's allegations against Sophia. Is she the treacherous and heartless spy Sir Harold believes her to be? Or could Sir Harold be wrong about Sophia? As acts of sabotage and murder begin to mount, Jane finds herself torn between her two friends and not at all sure what she should do...

While a lot of the novel did focus on the question as to whether or not Sophia Challoner was a treacherous French spy, the authour did take great care to pepper her mystery-intrigue plot with plenty of other suspects, several likely scenarios as to what was really going on, as well as a few rather interesting plot twists, in order to keep things humming and the reader guessing. Told with plenty of interesting historical facts and gossipy tidbits, and in a prose style that managed to be authentic without seeming anachronistic, I thoroughly enjoyed "Jane and the Ghosts of Netley" and had to finish it in one sitting. "Jane and the Ghosts of Netley" proved to be truly riveting reading.

Barron delivers!
I have been waiting (impatiently) for two years for the next book in the Jane Austen mystery series. The Ghosts of Netley does not disappoint! Barron fans will be engrossed in this page-turner with its smart dialogue and clever intrigues. Warning: have box of tissues ready as you near the end. My only complaint is the abrupt ending leaves us having to face the torture of waiting a year or two for the story to pick up again. Stephanie, please don't let us wait so long!

The Lovebird Handbook (Barron's Pet Handbooks)
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (October, 2001)
Author: Vera Appleyard
Average review score:

One Great Book!
It's factual and up to date! Vera Appleyard is very knowlegable about lovebirds and pet birds. This is a great book for first time owners and veteran Lovebird owners alike.

awesome!
This book is a must for new lovebird owners, anyone considering buying a lovebird, owners who have problems/questions anyone interested in lovebirds at all! This book answered so many questions, has beautiful pictures, up to date info on training, feeding, breeding etc. etc. I highly recommend buying this book!

A Great New Book
I bought this book because my experiences with lovebirds have never turned

out the way I expected them to. The first time I got a lovebird the pet

store said he would be tame after I handled him a few days. Although he

calmed down a little, it always felt like I was starting from scratch each

day. He was so scared I felt sorry for him. Well, I learned from someone

that the bird should not have been that scared if he was really hand-fed

and socialized. I got a second lovebird from a breeder a friend

recommended. This bird was really sweet and totally what I wanted, but

after about a year, this bird suddenly started biting me. He was still

tame, but would have these bouts of aggression. I felt totally

frustrated. I head about this book in an online discussion group and

bought it immediately. I'm glad I did. The Lovebird Handbook really showed

me what I did wrong with my second bird. I was letting this bird nibble on

me all the time. I thought it was cute when he nibbled my ears. The book

warns you about this, and says that nibbling can turn to biting when the

bird gets older. Wish I'd known that a year ago! I have bought lovebird

books before, but there was always something missing. I really enjoyed this

book because it covers almost anything you can think of regarding lovebirds

and it answered a lot of questions I never could get an answer to

before. I had no idea I needed to be careful going to bird shows or bird

stores because I could bring home feather dust with diseases! Now I wash my

clothes and take a shower as soon as I get home! Since I got my lovebird

I've also acquired a nanday conure, a cockatiel, and a Hahn's macaw. I

believe the chapters on training lovebirds also have some excellent tips

for working with my nanday. He has been screeching and driving me nuts, and

after I read the section about accidentally encouraging screaming, I

realized this is just what I have been doing--I basically taught my bird to

scream all the time! I'm going to try what they suggest to stop this

annoying noise. I also never put together an emergency kit before--never

even thought about it. The book told me exactly what I needed and I stopped

procrastinating. The other thing I really like about this book is the

photography. What gorgeous lovebirds! I highly recommend this book to

anyone who is thinking about getting a pet lovebird or has one already, or

anyone who is thinking about breeding them and raising tame babies

(especially the section about how hand-feeding is not enough for a really

tame bird).

Writing a Convincing Business Plan (Barron's Business Library)
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (October, 1995)
Authors: Art Dethomas, William B. Fredenberger, Arthur R. Dethomas, and Bill Fredenberger
Average review score:

Well Done!!!
I purchased three books from amazon.com and this was one of them. It is very well written. The writers are short, concise and to the point. This is a step-by-step guide in helping you write out your business plan. The other two books I purchased were thrown aside, but were of use when I needed to reference something else. Before you spend your money on other books, buy this one first and if you need additional help purchase another.

Buy this one first
This book should be within arm's reach the entire time you begin to think about and write your business plan. It is well organized, tightly written, and most importantly, it prompts you to analyze and to answer the critical questions. I've read at least 10 other books on business plans, but this one gets to the heart of the matter better than the others. Many of the questions and topics covered would never have occurred to me if I hadn't read this book. Buy others, but get this one first.

A concise,comprehensive,detailed roadmap to writing a plan!
The book provides extraordinary insight into writing a business plan! Every detail is laid out step by step, and includes addresses and phone numbers to organizations that provide crucial research that a person will need for any business research. Every aspect of the business plan is presented concisely and is well organized, leaving nothing for the reader to question. Not one question you may have will go unanswered! Unequivocally, the best book on writing a business proposal! (And I have purchased several books!)
